Setting Items "For Sale"

At BRM, we understand that every item follows its own lifecycle—from being ordered, to rented, to eventually being sold. At each stage, the item has a status that indicates where it is in this cycle.

You can find a full overview of the item lifecycle here.

Why "For Sale" Matters

Marking an item as for sale is an important step in its lifecycle. It signals to you and your staff that the asset is available to be sold and clearly records the sale price.

Unlike other stages of the lifecycle, however, “for sale” is not a status—it’s a flag that you set. This design ensures that your asset’s sale availability remains intact, even as it is checked in or out for rentals.

For example, toward the end of a season, you may wish to continue renting out bikes while also making them available for sale to customers or the general public. By setting the “for sale” flag, you can do this seamlessly without disrupting day-to-day operations.

How to Set Items as "For Sale"

  1. Go to the Inventory section.

  2. Locate the item you want to mark for sale.

  3. Navigate to the Buy / Sell tab.

  4. Use the “For Sale” selector to set the item as available.

  5. Enter any additional details such as:

    • Sale price

    • Purchase price

    • Purchase date
