This would probably prevent a German or European customer from making an online booking. We use an ID scanner (Fujitsu FI-65F scanner) at the checkout in the shop.
Not suggesting it is for online booking.
But in the back office to add an image to a customer. (rather than scanning and storing on your own network)
Of course there are all sorts of GDPR compliance issues to be tackled.

Allow for photo (or document) upload for each customer.- could be used for customer image (webcam)- or photo of drivers licence, passport etc.
Could be tied to a customer profile.
